Responsibilities:Oversees the provision of services by directing and coordinating operations for specific department(s) or service lines at a Community Health System (CHS) facility or across the system. Responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. Accountable for the management of select programs including program oversight, working in collaboration with physicians, their offices and impacted departments.
Responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, quality control and safety measures as established and set for CHS operations. Serves as a company representative on regulatory issues. Enhances the operational procedures, information systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting, supply chain management and looks for opportunities to expand systems. Accountable for effective communication, staff development, budget support, interdepartmental relations and personnel management in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws.
Accountabilities
1. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance initiatives to ensure quality and regulatory standards are met, consistent with CHS’s mission and goals.
2. Researches new technologies and alternative methods of efficiency.
3. Assists with the budget process through resource identification and service area needs. Prepares budgets reflecting needed expenditures and operating income of all assigned functions. Takes appropriate corrective action to ensure operations are managed within approved budgets. Reports budget variances to the Director.
4. Oversees inventory, distribution of goods and facility layout.
5. Responsible for identifying, evaluating and analyzing risks inherent to the operations of CHS. Formulates, implements, administers and evaluates risk management strategies to efficiently and cost-effectively manage those risks.
6. Improves the operational systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission -specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
7. Manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.
8. Performs a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.
9. Acts as a resource and liaison between various departments, staff, patients, patient families and providers. Provides assistance in resolving questions, interpersonal conflicts and ensuring positive medical staff relationships.
10. Assigns, directs and reviews the work of subordinates work methods, procedures, work flow and standards for quality and quantity of work. Mentors and provides coaching.
11. Directly responsible (with support from Human Resources) for employee engagement and people management processes including interviewing and selection, time and attendance approval, providing timely feedback and performance evaluations, employee development, employee retention, disciplinary actions and terminations.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration required
• Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration preferred
Experience
• 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting required
• Pay ranges listed are an estimate and subject to change.
